Implant Center, Inc. Achieves QS-9000 Certification

SAN JOSE, California,-- Implant Center Incorporated, a foundry operation for ion implantation and an ion implanter subassembly rebuild operation announced that it has received QS-9000 Certification from Quality Systems Registrars, Inc. Implant Center serves the semiconductor, optoelectronic and related electronic industries.


“After achieving our goal in 1999 of ISO 9002 Certification the next obvious step was to proceed to a higher level of quality performance. The QS-9000 Certification effort was a direct result of several key company objectives that specifically revolve around our internal quality system. Implant Center is now well-positioned to meet the expectations of a customer base that require its suppliers to follow the stringent provisions found only in the QS-9000 quality system. Implant Center continues to succeed in its commitment to continuous improvement,” stated CEO and president, Ray Krummen.

Tom Ray, Implant Center Director of Quality, adds, “after our ISO experience, we reviewed the value added components of QS–9000 and concluded that we needed the majority of them to achieve our business goals. Faced with that reality, the decision to pursue QS-9000 was fairly simple”.

Founded in 1981, Implant Center Incorporated is a privately held corporation and is headquartered at 2121 Zanker Road, San Jose, California. The Company is dedicated to the strategic outsource of the ion implantation process. Implant Center now has a combination of high current, medium current and MeV implanters capable of handling 2-inch to 8-inch substrates, including state-of-the-art Eaton GSD, Varian E-500 and Applied Materials xR series tools. The San Jose facility is 35,000 square feet and can support up to 27 implanters. In addition to the Class 100 SMIF-capable manufacturing area and labs, the facility houses Implant Center’s executive staff, sales and marketing, and support services. The new Portland area facility will be 50,000 square feet and fully SMIF capable. Implant Center is certified to QS-9002 Quality Standard requirements by QSR Quality Registrar.
